Man Arrested For Drink Driving On Motorised Cooler

A man has been arrested for drunk driving after he was caught riding a motorised drink cooler – and he wasn’t the first.

Police spotted the cheeky drongo, 22, riding the cooler on a suburban street in Perth, Australia, at about 8pm on Friday night.

They said the motorised cooler – known in Australia as an esky - was potentially dangerous and that it contained alcohol.

‘This motor vehicle would only be able to travel at very low speeds,’ said police in a statement.

‘The lighting devices on said vehicle would be negligible and make it very difficult for other motorists to see.’

A 38-year-old man was charged with a similar offence in March after going on an esky-pade on a bike path with a cooler full of beer, wine, and bourbon.

And in August 2011, a 23-year-old said he was having ‘a bit of a giggle’ when he was disqualified from driving for taking his ‘extreme cooler’ for a spin in Queensland.
